DiEM25Belgium condemns the prohibition to strike for two smaller railway unions
The right to strike is an individual right.
You can always discuss whether a strike needs to flatten a country’s economy and activity completely. Or that the protest can be organised in a more creative and positive way.
But the prohibition to strike for the two smaller railway unions OVS and ASTB is a democracy unworthy ! Unions are member organisations and the right to strike is an individual right.
It is extremely strange that the three ‘coloured’ unions ACV/CSC, ABVV/FGTB and ACLVB/CGSLB would have the monopoly to strike ?! That proves that we are living under a particratic system and that transparency and democracy are far away.
“All are equal for the law” is one of the oldest, most important democratic principles of the Belgian constitution.
And that constitution is protecting our right to strike. For every individual !
DiEM25Belgium demands with urge that the Belgian government restores the right to strike for all. It is a democratic country unworthy that one even thinks about introducing such measures.
